1 dead, 4 injured following crash in rural Buena Vista County

BUENA VISTA COUNTY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — The Iowa State Patrol reports one person is dead, and four others are injured following a crash in rural Buena Vista County.

According to the Patrol, a 2020 Subaru Outback was traveling north along M27/20th Ave. roughly three miles south of Peterson, Iowa just before 10 a.m. Monday morning.

The Outback began to turn left into a parking lot. It was struck by an oncoming 2006 International 9400 truck traveling in the southbound lane. The truck hit the Outback on the passenger side, ejecting the front-seat passenger from the vehicle. That passenger, 42-year-old Coree Keller of Popejoy, died at the scene.

The driver of the Outback, 37-year-old Nicholas Seaburg, of Popejoy, was injured. He was able to transport himself to receive medical care.

Three juvenile passengers were also injured. The first, an 11-year-old girl, was transported by air to a Sioux Falls hospital. The second, a seven-year-old girl, was taken to a local hospital. And the third, a five-year-old boy was also transported to a Sioux Falls hospital.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
