A Conesville man was charged with assault and child endangerment after police responded to a report of people yelling loudly overnight.

Officers were called to the Breckenridge Estates Manufactured Home Community on Taft Avenue around 12:30am Sunday of the disturbance and were notified en route that the reporting party was hit by the suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Wilondja Babingwa.

Upon arrival, both the reporting party and Babingwa were still yelling at each other. Babingwa was allegedly extremely intoxicated and stated that a friend had come over and started arguing with him. He reportedly admitted to putting hands on the woman, with whom he’s had an intimate relationship over the past 7 years.

The woman stated she tried to get the car keys away from Babingwa to keep him from driving drunk, and he headbutted her. She was holding her front teeth and complained of pain from his actions.

There were a total of six children in the trailer at the time of the alleged assault.

Babingwa was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault causing injury and child endangerment. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
