PRIMGHAR, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — Three people were thrown from a vehicle in a rollover that injured seven people in O’Brien County on Sunday.
According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, they were alerted at 11:09 p.m. to a rollover crash at the intersection of Nettle Avenue and Highway 10, about six miles west of Paullina.
Officials said that a 2001 Ford Escape was headed north on Nettle Avenue when it crossed the center line and lost control which led to the vehicle going off the road and into the ditch. The vehicle then rolled into a field.
A witness told officials that the vehicle had failed to stop at a stop sign prior to the crash.
Three of the seven occupants of the vehicle had been ejected from the vehicle and four out of seven sustained serious or life-threatening injuries, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle suffered an estimated $10,000 in damage and is considered totaled.
The driver, Wuilder Montoya, 30, of Chicago, was cited for failure to obey traffic control device, failure to maintain control, no valid driver’s license, and failure to provide financial liability.
