COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – A Council Bluffs man was arrested Monday in connection with the murder of an Omaha woman whose body was found in rural Fremont County in February.
Justin Allen Sickler, 45, of 319 N. First St., Council Bluffs, was charged with first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse and third-degree theft.
The incident began Feb. 17, when the Fremont County Sheriff’s office responded to a report of a body found in rural Fremont County. The sheriff’s office requested the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to assist with the investigation.
The body was identified by the State Medical Examiner as Brianne McIntosh, 28, of Council Bluffs. Autopsy results indicated McIntosh sustained “severe facial injury related to her death,” according to court records.
McIntosh was reported as missing to the Omaha Police Department on Dec. 12, 2023, by a relative.
Sickler was arrested Monday by agents of the DCI, Council Bluffs Police Department and the Fourth Judicial Fugitive Investigation Unit. He is held in the Pottawattamie County Jail.
Sickler was convicted of domestic abuse assault in 2000 in Page County District Court. He was convicted of domestic abuse assault in 2002 in Page County District Court. He was convicted of third or subsequent offense domestic abuse assault in 2002 in Fremont County District Court. He was convicted of second-offense domestic abuse assault in 2003 in Fremont County District Court. He was convicted of two counts of second-degree harassment in 2022 in Page County District Court.
