SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — With the fall season underway, many Siouxlanders are taking the time to start preparing their gardens and plants for the coming cold.
Experts say now is the time to make sure you have a successful start for next spring. They say that though you still have a little more time with warmer weather coming up, you should keep an eye out when frost becomes an issue.
“Roses, let’s get those trimmed back, let’s get cones on them or get the mulch under the bottom,” Earl May manager Sheryl Schelm said. “I wouldn’t do cones yet because we got some warmer weather coming. Just keep that in mind that you’re going to need to cone those guys.”
Experts are also reminding residents to unhook their hoses before the start of winter to avoid freezing and breaking their hose.
