Thursday saw the 10th anniversary reunion of the Iron Women of Perry, whose fitness photo shoot and subsequent calendar caused a sensation in the hot summer of July 2014 and raised some $12,000 for the McCreary Community Building (MCB).
Now in their 60s and 70s and all retired, the Iron Women group has remained close. Three regularly lift weights together as they have for more than 20 years.
“Exercise has become a lifelong habit for all the Iron Women because they know it helps them stay healthy and fit as they age,” said Marsha McCaulley of Perry, champion bodybuilder and longtime fitness coach at the MCB and the organizer of the Iron Women. “They are very active, with many different activities, from pickle ball and Pilates to yoga and Spin to golf and walking — and last but not least, weightlifting.”
Still fit and over 50, the Iron Women of Perry include founder McCaulley and Jill Dorman, Stephanie Hall-Hansen, JoAnn Harmelink, Sherri Miller, Cindy Sohn and Cheri Tice Scheib.
