Several Arrested Following Large Fight in Storm Lake

Several arrests were made following a fight in Storm Lake that involved approximately 20 individuals.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers were called to the incident at around 3:20am Tuesday morning in the 600 block of Chloe Lane. Some involved in the fight were allegedly armed with handguns. Police discovered three individuals suffering from facial injuries. One of them was transported by ambulance to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.

It was determined that shortly before 3am Tuesday, a male victim was traveling in a vehicle in the area of the 15 hundred block of Sugarcreek Lane when he approached several individuals walking in the roadway. One of the individuals approached the vehicle which led to an argument, and a suspect struck the victim in the face with a fist while the victim was seated in the vehicle. The victim drove away and a large crowd followed and encountered the victim after he parked. The victim was assaulted by several individuals which caused serious facial injuries, including several broken bones.

Several people from a nearby residence attempted to intervene, and the group of suspects began assaulting them. One suspect reportedly threatened others with a handgun. The suspects fled the scene on foot and were tracked to a residence at 725 Lilly Court in Storm Lake. A perimeter was set up, and several suspects exited the residence after approximately three hours. Two handguns were located in the residence, and one of them was reportedly stolen from Cherokee.

20-year-old Odoll Agowa of Storm Lake was charged with 1st Degree Robbery, a class B felony, and was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a 40 thousand dollar bond…20-year-old Titus Mulgae of Storm Lake was charged with Unauthorized Possession of an Offensive Weapon, a class D felony, and Accessory After The Fact, an aggravated misdemeanor, and was booked on a seven thousand dollar bond…24-year-old Chuol Gatluak of Storm Lake was charged with 1st Degree Robbery and also Rioting, which is a class D felony, and Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, a class C felony, and was booked on a 50 thousand dollar bond… 22-year-old Jamuo Gatwech of Storm Lake was charged with 1st Degree Robbery, Rioting, and Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, and was booked on a 35 thousand dollar bond. Three other adults and three juveniles from out of town were also charged. The juveniles were taken to the Cherokee Youth Emergency Services Center.

The BV County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
