Everything to know about the 2024 Saturday in the Park

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — The annual Saturday in the Park festival is days away, which means you’ve probably figured out which stage will have the artist you’re most excited to see. But have you thought about parking, food, and souvenirs? Don’t worry; Iowa Media Wire 9 has you covered. Here’s everything you need to know for the 2024 SITP.

Parking

Sponsored

Every year, cars line the streets of the neighborhood surrounding Grandview Park and many find themselves walking several blocks to reach their destination. To help mitigate the need for parking space and ensure everyone can enjoy the celebrations, Sioux City Transit is providing a bus service dedicated to Saturday in the Park from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Pick up and drop off will be located in front of the Tyson Events Center main entrance on Gordon Drive and the south entrance of Grandview Park on 24th Street.

Bus Fares:

  • Adult – $1.80 one-way trip or $3.60 round trip
  • Student – $1.55 one-way trip or $3.10 round trip.
  • Senior Citizen & Disabled – $0.90 one-way trip or $1.80 round trip.
  • Children Under Five – Free with an adult
  • Day Pass Adult – $5.00
  • Day Pass Senior Citizen – $2.00
  • Day Pass Disability – $2.00
  • Day Pass Student – $4.00

While drivers will accept cash, it’s recommended that eventgoers purchase a return ride token in advance since drivers will be unable to make change. Fare tokens will be sold throughout the day at the Tyson Events Center stop.

Patrons are encouraged to park at the Tyson Events Center/Long Lines Family Recreation Center or the River’s Landing Parking Ramp and ride the special event bus due to the limited parking around Grandview and the likelihood of traffic congestion and roadblocks.

Permitted Items

While you’re packing up and getting ready to head out to the festival, keep in mind that only clear bags will be allowed in the park. Coolers, food, and beverages will also not be allowed, however, there will be numerous vendors for you to choose from throughout the area. Patrons are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle and can find water bottle refilling stations throughout the park.

Other permitted items include a blanket, lawn chairs, and an umbrella, but umbrellas should not prevent others around you from seeing the stage.

Items that are not permitted include guns, weapons, and fireworks. While they might love some of the performers, pets should be left at home. Additionally, distribution, solicitation, and advertisements in the form of flyers, business cards, etc., will not be allowed.

Now that you’re all packed and ready to go, let’s see what else SITP has to offer.

Kid’s Zone

At Saturday in the Park, there’s something to enjoy for all ages. Parents can rest easy knowing that their kids will be entertained for hours on end at the Kid’s Zone, sponsored by Iowa Media Wire 9.
