
EMMET COUNTY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — A three-vehicle crash on July 3 led to three people being hospitalized in Emmet County.
According to a Facebook post from Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, authories received a report at 4:3 p.m. of a three-vehicle collision with injuries in the 3500 block of 170th Street, about seven miles west of Correctionville.
Upon investigation, officials determined that an eastbound 2011 BMW sedan driven by Donte Pietsch, 18, of Estherville, crossed into the path and sideswiped a westbound 2010 Dodge Caravan.
After the collision, the Dodge Caravan left the roadway and came to rest in the north ditch of 170th Street. After the collision with the Dodge Caravan, the BMW sedan slid into the path of the second westbound vehicle a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe driven where it hit the front of the Tahoe.
All three drivers were treated at the scene for their injuries and transported by the Estherville Ambulance Service to a local hospital. All three vehicles involved are considered a total loss.
Estherville Police Department, Estherville Fire Department, Emmet County Emergency Management, and Emmet County Public Health all assisted at the scene.
Authorities report that in addition to the investigation of the crash, Pietsch was charged with driving with an expired driver’s license, operation without registration, driving in an improper lane/wrong direction, and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
