SIOUX CITY, IOWA (Iowa Media Wire) — The Parks and Recreation Department of Sioux City has notified the public of temporary trail closures.
Due to the recent flooding, there have been damages to the riverbank, fencing, and trail in some areas, according to the City of Sioux City.
The following areas will be closed to the public until further notice:
- A portion of the Riverfront Trail will be closed between the Boat Ramp and the Boat Club in Riverside Park.
- The trail segment from Military Road to the Sioux City Railroad Museum.
- The Big Sioux Trail from the Riverside Pool to Military Road.
Sioux City asks the public to be patient as they expect the trail sections to be temporarily closed for an unspecified amount of time.
The following areas are still open for public use:
- The Boat Ramp at Chris Larsen Park has limited access to smaller fishing boats. The City asks that the ramp be used with caution.
- Chris Larsen Park including the new park addition, trail, shelters, splash play equipment, and all other park amenities from Floyd Boulevard to Hamilton Boulevard.
- Riverside Park including the trail, shelters, play equipment, and all other park amenities.
