The City of Iowa City is holding a free training for residents who want to learn how to collect and report increasingly important precipitation data.

The training runs from 4:30 to 6pm a week from Monday, July 15th, at the Iowa City Senior Center on South Linn Street.

Climate change is impacting rainfall in Iowa City and across the country. With this training, residents can join a corps of volunteers working to collect precipitation data that can be used by local, state, and federal agencies daily to document all types of weather and their impact to the local community.

The training will be hosted by the City’s Climate Action and Outreach Division and facilitated by a Meteorologist from the National Weather Service (NWS).
