Spirit Lake man pleads not guilty to attempted murder, theft

SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — A Spirit Lake man accused of attempted murder and vehicle theft has pleaded not guilty in the Dickinson County Court.

According to court documents, Caleb Crosby, 19, was charged with attempted murder and first-degree theft after a shooting on May 5 in Montgomery.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office states that they received a 911 at 5:18 p.m. reporting a shooting. When officials arrived, they found and treated one victim. Crosby was located a few hours later and arrested. He was also charged with theft of a vehicle.

Crosby has waived his right to a speedy trial and will be back in court on July 9 for a pretrial conference. A jury trial has been scheduled for August 20.
