A new special minor’s restricted license will let more young people drive in Iowa.
Teenagers who are 14 1/2-years-old can drive unsupervised up to 25 miles from their homes to school, extracurricular activities and work. The new law expands where they go but limits how far they go. This law replaces the old one that let them drive unsupervised up to 50 miles from their home and only to school.
