SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — At Monday night’s Sioux City Community School District (SCCSD) board meeting, members heard a report concerning recruitment and retention of teachers, staff and administrators.
The report was conducted by the district’s human resources and communications department. The goal was to attract and retain highly qualified and diverse teachers, staff and administrators. The strategy consisted of recruitment tactics like career fairs and digital advertising campaigns, along with enhancing retention strategies in areas such as wellness, communication and safety.
“It gives us a better idea of where we can improve, because if we’re not working to be the best and improving to be the best, what are we doing?” SCCSD board president Jan George said. “The staff here in Sioux City they’re on that same focus. They want to be the best district in the state, and that’s what we’re working at.”
The report showed that the majority of the applicants are from Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. It also showed that the school district’s website is the top referral source, followed by employee referrals and online sources.
