SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — Troopers were led on a pursuit between Sioux City and Sergeant Bluff on Friday which ended in a deadly crash.   

According to a crash report, troopers began pursuing an Olds Alero driven by Donovan Burrell, 24, of Orange City, who was allegedly speeding at 3 a.m. 

The report states that while heading south, Burrell allegedly lost control and went into the northbound lanes, then off the east shoulder, back onto the roadway, before leaving the roadway again and entering the east shoulder.  

The vehicle struck a shed before coming to a rest facing south near Old Lakeport Road and Wilde Street

The report noted that excessive speed, alcohol, drugs, erratic driving, and no seat belt contributed to the crash.  

The Iowa State Patrol assisted the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Department in this incident.
