
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — A man accused of Sioux City vehicular homicide has pleaded not guilty.
According to court documents, Wesley Staten, 31, pleaded not guilty Monday in a written arraignment. He is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and operating while intoxicated.
Staten was a suspect in a fatal Sioux City that occurred on October 13, 2023,
In early April, Woodbury County Official reached out to the public after the crash in an attempt to find Staten. U.S. Marshals later arrested him in Jefferson County, Alabama on May 16, 2024.
Staten was extradited at the beginning of June from the U.S. Marshal into the custody of local officials. He was held on a of $100,000 and was charged with two counts of homicide by vehicle, Leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and operating while under the influence.
A trial is scheduled for Aug. 27 with a pre-trial conference scheduled for Aug. 21.
