Gov. Reynolds tours flooding in northwest Iowa, monitoring situation

DES MOINES, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds flew over flooding in northwest Iowa Saturday.

The governor posted on here social media that members of her cabinet from the National Guard, Department of Public Safety, Department of Transportation, Department of Natural Resources, Health and Human Services joined her to fly in a helicopter over what appears to be Rock Valley and more of northwest Iowa.

She said that rivers are cresting above the 1993 records causing widespread devastation.

The governor said in another post that she spoke with the regional FEMA administrator Saturday morning who is now moving resources into impacted communities.

After ordering a disaster emergency proclamation for 21 northwest counties Saturday morning, Reynolds was at the State Emergency Operations Center to learn more about what was happening. She also said she requested an expedited presidential disaster declaration.
