SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — Though the Morningside University campus is usually quiet during the summer, it wasn’t Thursday night.

A new family-friendly campus event called “Summer Vibes at Morningside” offered up plenty of food, fun and music. While the younger crowd took advantage of a foam party and bouncy house, the campus mall featured a trio of local food trucks for adults. A police cruiser and fire truck also pulled up for the party, something organizers say is a way to stay connected with people in the neighborhood.

“While it would be great to host something for our faculty and staff and alumni, why not open it up to the community?” Director of Alumni Engagement Alex Watters said. “Really show Sioux City and the Morningside area that we really care about them. This is their campus, too. We wanted to welcome them and really just give a chance to celebrate the start of summer.”
