With the closure of the Tyson Fresh Meats factory in Perry, workers at some of Perry’s more permanent employers enjoyed a welcome spell of rest and relaxation this week.
Wiese Industries hosted an employee and family picnic Thursday, serving about 180 people with a mouthwatering array of dishes.

A fixture of Perry industry for 125 years, the Wiese Corp. was bought by a Canadian company in 2003 and became Wiese Industries. Trevor and Ian Giles acquired all the company’s stock in 2022 and became co-owners.
Trevor Giles shared his recipe for barbecue, which went over well with the hungry crowd.
