MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (WHO) — Police in Marshalltown say a juvenile has been detained in connection with an open murder investigation.
Wednesday, Marshalltown Police Chief Michael Tupper said the juvenile is linked to a deadly shooting that happened at the beginning of June, and the suspected shooter remains on the loose.
Chief Tupper said a 15-year-old male was detained Tuesday night on the criminal offenses of accessory after the fact (Murder) — aggravated misdemeanor, and possession with intent to deliver (Marijuana) — Class D felony.
/>Police are still seeking the man they say shot and killed 41-year-old Ramon Alexis Feliciano Nieves on June 1st. Police were called to the Center Street Station bar at 19 North Center Street at 1:20 that morning on a shooting, where they found Nieves suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at the hospital.
Victor Antonio Delgadillo, 18, was identified as the shooter, and warrants for his arrest on first-degree murder and first-degree harassment charges are active.
“We will arrest and prosecute anyone who is knowingly aiding and abetting Mr. Delgadillo. We cannot allow violent crime to take a hold of our community. We plan to make more arrests. We urge Mr. Delgadillo to follow the advice of his legal counsel and turn himself in. The only way to resolve this issue is to do so through the court process,” said Chief Tupper.
There is a $5,000 reward for information leading to Delgadillo’s arrest.
