APPANOOSE COUNTY, Iowa (WHO) — A 17-year-old drowned at Rathbun Lake Wednesday night the Appanoose County Sheriff’s Office said.
At around 6:13 p.m. the Appanoose County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a 17-year-old swimmer who had gone under the water and didn’t resurface near the Buck Creek swimming area in the 21000 block of Cedar Circle in Moravia.
The Appanoose County Water Rescue Team was deployed and at around 7:33 p.m. they recovered the teen’s body, the sheriff’s office said. The teen’s name has not been released.
An investigation into this incident is ongoing the sheriff’s office said.
