A Perry woman was arrested Monday night after allegedly assaulting her teenage son.

Emily Kay Chance, 35, of 2612 Taft St., Perry, was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness and child endangerment.

The incident began about 9:15 p.m. Monday in the 2600 block of Taft Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the juvenile victim, who told the officers that Chance “became aggressive,” including “slamming his bedroom door, which struck his knee,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that while he and Chance “were shoving and pushing each other,” his 6-year-old brother was “knocked over,” according to court records. The victim told the officers that Chance “jumped on his back and was actively punching him.”

The officers observed “marks” on the victim’s “back and a scratch on his right hand,” according to court records.

A witness told the officers that Chance “was intoxicated and was emotionally heightened,” and an officer “could detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath,” according to court records.

Chance is held in the Dallas County jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 2 in Dallas County District Court.
