SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — Woodbury County has declared a state of emergency due to recent severe flooding.
On Monday, June 24, Woodbury County Board of Supervisors chairman Matthew Ung announced that he had signed an emergency disaster declaration for the county. He cited flooding that occurred on June 21 and caused “severe damage” and “endangerment of health and safety of the citizens of Woodbury County within the disaster area.”
The county will begin to spend emergency funds from all available sources and invoke mutual aid agreements. The county has also applied for assistance from the state of Iowa.
In addition, Woodbury County has requested a federal disaster declaration from President Biden.
