SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — As flooding in Siouxland hits record levels and continues to impact the lives of many, there are thankfully a number of ways to help out.
Siouxland Recovery Fund
The Siouxland Recovery Fund, put together by community leaders and organizations such as the Red Cross and United Way, was activated Sunday. Donations received through this fund will be put into local organizations and nonprofits that are offering assistance and aid for flood relief.
You can donate to the Siouxland Recovery Fund by bringing your donation to any Security National Bank location and mailing it to the Siouxland Recovery Fund c/o United Way of Siouxland, 401 Steuben Street, Sioux City, Iowa, 51101. You can also donate online by clicking here.
GoFundMe
GoFundMe has organized a collection of various verified fundraisers helping out people and families affected in northwest Iowa, as well as in South Dakota and Minnesota. You can donate to these fundraisers by clicking here.
Red Cross
The Red Cross has volunteers helping communities all around the northwestern Iowa region. At this time, the Red Cross said that they are assisting communities in the following locations.
- Faith Reformed Church in Rock Valley
- Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley
- Faith Pentecostal Church in Spencer
- CrossWinds Church in Spencer
- River Valley Community School in Correctionville
- Cherokee Washington High School in Cherokee

The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is also in northwest Iowa helping with flood relief. They’ve been providing mobile food service in Iowa and plan to bring flood cleanup kits to various affected communities.

Rock Valley donations
In Rock Valley, monetary donations for flooding victims can be sent by mail or in-person to Peoples Bank (1230 Valley Drive) or Premier Bank (1004 21st Avenue), both in the city. These must be by check and addressed to “FRIENDS OF ROCK VALLEY.” There is not currently an electronic option.
Goods can be taken to Boyden–Hull Junior/High School on 801 1st Street in Hull. As of Monday, June 24 at 3:08 p.m., the donation center there wants unused items to be dropped off at door S2. Iowa Disaster Recovery
Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director Jon Benson said there is work being done to create a proper system to handle donations and volunteer requests. The website disasterrecovery.iowa.gov should be updated in the coming days.
