IOWA CITY, Iowa (WHO) — A University of Iowa football player was arrested early Sunday morning for allegedly driving drunk.

Kaleb Brown, 20, is charged with OWI and possession of a fictitious license. The charges stem from an incident near his residence in the 400 block of S. Van Buren Street around 2:25 a.m., according to court records.

A criminal complaint states Brown was observed driving a Dodge Durango with heavy front-end damage, including a front wheel turned completely sideways. Brown then allegedly backed the SUV onto a lawn and began spinning the tires.

The complaint claims Brown had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, poor balance, and his breath smelled of alcohol. He also refused field sobriety testing and a breath test at the scene.

A fictitious driver’s license was also found in Brown’s possession. The complaint said it displayed an age over the age of 21.

Brown is a junior wide receiver and played in 11 games for the Hawkeyes last season, starting in four. He transferred from Ohio State after the 2022 season.
