Woman rescued from car in flood water in Clay County, Iowa

CLAY COUNTY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — A woman was rescued from her car after being stuck in flood water near Spencer.

According to a press release, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle that had entered a ditch with water to the windshield and slowly entering into the car Friday morning around 6:40 a.m. The incident took place of the 23000 mile of 300th Street, a couple miles north of Spencer.

Authorities say two citizens assisted with entering the water, breaking the rear window, and removing the driver. Within minutes after removal, the vehicle was fully submerged under water.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said the driver tried to cross the flooded roadway and began to hydroplane causing her to lose control of the vehicle.
