SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — On Wednesday, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds issued a Disaster Proclamation for six Siouxland counties for the severe weather that occurred on June 12. This proclamation opens opportunities for Siouxlanders to apply for storm recovery relief.
According to a release, the disaster proclamation applies to Carroll, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Harrison, and O’Brien Counties.
Declaring a Disaster Proclamation for these counties allows the state to use resources to address disaster-related needs including hardship, injury, or adverse conditions.
The release states that households with incomes up to 200% of the poverty level can apply for a grant of up to $5,000 through the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program. These can be used for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food, and temporary housing expenses. Anyone seeking reimbursement for expenses related to storm recovery should be prepared to provide the original receipt for such items.
