RUNNELLS, Iowa (WHO) — A homicide investigation is underway in Runnells after the Polk County Sheriff’s Office was called to respond to a report of a shooting early Friday morning.

The PCSO said a 911 call came in shortly after 1:00 a.m. reporting the shooting at an address in the 4500 block of SE 116th Street. That’s just north of Runnells.

When deputies arrived, they entered the residence and found an adult male victim deceased. The scene was secured and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has been called in to assist the PCSO with the case.

Investigators are gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses, including a person of interest. The PCSO says it does not believe there is a threat to the public.
