HOLSTEIN, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — Holstein’s annual Kinderfest is right around the corner and there’s a lot to know about this fun-filled weekend.  

Kinderfest begins Thursday with the 1st annual Holstein Chamber at 10 a.m. This will be followed by a golf tournament at the Holstein Country Club. The registration deadline for this tournament has passed, but there are still plenty of events to participate in.

If all that golf makes you thirsty, head over to Cornerhaus 101 for Thirsty Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m.

There will be a free meal at the Holstein State Theatre at 6 p.m. To conclude the first day of events, a free movie will be shown at the Holstein State Theatre. If “Babe” isn’t your kind of movie, head to Second Wind for Music Bingo at 7 p.m.  

The fun doesn’t stop on Friday. Start off with a free burger at the A & A parking lot from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. With a full tummy, check out the Art Social Open House from 4 to 9 p.m. For a different kind of art, visit West 2nd Street for a car and tractor show at 5:30 p.m. While you’re in the area, head to East 2nd Street where there will be a variety of events for the rest of the night.  

Live music by Beau Wolfe will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. along with a beer garden from 5:30 to 11 p.m.  

Work up an appetite with free inflatables that will be available from 6 to 9 p.m. then head over to the Sizzlin J Food Truck or have a meal by the St. Paul Lutheran Youth Group. The food truck will be available from 6 to 9 p.m. and the Youth Group meal will be available from 6 to 8 p.m.  

Test your aim with a cornhole tournament at 6:30 p.m. but make sure you register by June 14! The cost is $20 per team. Use this form or text Lauren at 712-210-6221 for registration. No outside beverages will be allowed.  

Conclude the night with more live music by the Brad Morgan Band from 8 to 11 p.m. If you’re unfamiliar with the area, check out this map for easier planning.  

Make sure you get a good breakfast in before the 5K Walk/Run at 9 a.m. This event also requires registration and costs $25. Register here or on the Holstein Parks and Recreation Facebook Page. All that exercise might make you hungry again, so visit Holstein City Park for Kiwanis Lunch at 11 a.m.

If you didn’t have a chance to check out the art on Friday, you’ll have a second chance from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. At 12 p.m., the Parade will begin at the Holstein Supermarket. Check out the Parade route here. This year’s parade marshals are Bob and Connie Butcher, get to know them here.  

Meanwhile, Holstein City Park will have several attractions throughout the day. From 12:30 to 4 p.m., enjoy inflatables, a cake walk, and a petting zoo. At 1 p.m., listen to some tunes from the German Band, and for some bubbly fun, check out the foam party with Phaze One DJ from 1:30 to 4 p.m.  

Organizers didn’t leave out the littles either. At 2 p.m., there will be a pedal pull for children ages 4 to 11.  

Dip your toes in the sand at Boling Seeds for a Sand Volleyball Tournament from 4 to 6 p.m. Don’t forget to register by texting 712-210-6221 or email lmmmeyer2810@gmail.com. 

Didn’t have a chance to get to the beer garden on Friday? No worries, there will be another one at 7 p.m. back on East 2nd Street.  

Kinderfest will come to an end with four hours of live outdoor music by Neil Anders and The Brothers Merritt from 8 to 12 a.m.
