SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — Sioux City Parks and Recreation is kicking off the summer season with the grand opening of the new mountain bike trail system and other activities at Cone Park.
The public is invited to attend an official park dedication and ribbon-cutting event on Friday, June 14 at 1:30 p.m.
The following day, Saturday, June 15, the public is invited to enjoy the Cone Park Trail Fest. The Trail Fest will be from 10 a.m. – 5: 30 p.m. Admission is free. The Trail Fest will have live music, food trucks, craft beer, vendor booths, kids’ zones, and more.
The season-opening for the Cone Park Mountain Biking will fall on June 16. Visit the park and explore 10.5 miles of natural trails. The trails are for every rider regardless of experience level. Cone Park Mountain Biking is free for public use Sunday – Monday from 7 a.m. – 11 p.m.
To improve your riding skills and add more to your experience, visitors can try the new Pump Track and Jump Lines.
Mountain Bike Rentals are also available every Thursday – Sunday, starting June 20, until Labor Day, and then only on Saturdays and Sundays from Labor Day to October 12.
Bike Rental Days Sessions are as follows:
Half Day – 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Full Day – 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Weekend (Saturday and Sunday) – 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
The bikes that can be rented are the Youth Hardtail Bike, the Hardtail Bike, the Full Suspension, The Ebike, and the Life Pass. The rented price differs depending on the length of use and days.
In addition to mountain biking, the Splash Pad, Summer Tubing, and Rec Programs are available.
The Cone Park Splash Pad is located behind the Cone Park Lodge. it is open now through Labor Day weekend. It will be open Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Cone Park Summer Tubing will be open for the season on June 16. Admission includes access to the tubing hill, splash pad, and concessions at the Cone Park Lodge.
Summer Tubing will be available every Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. until Labor Day, after Labor Day Summer Tubing will only be open on Saturdays and Sundays until Oct 12.
