DES MOINES, Iowa (WHO) — A 16-year-old has been charged with murder in connection to a stabbing at a downtown apartment complex on Tuesday morning.
At around 10:15 a.m. officers with the Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Oakridge Drive. When first responders arrived on scene they found a 19-year-old male suffering from a stab wound to his neck. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. His name has not been released.
Des Moines Police announced Tuesday evening that an arrest has been made. A 16-year-old male is now charged with first-degree murder as an adult. His name will not be released until after his initial court appearance on Wednesday.
According to police, the stabbing occurred during a dispute between the victim and suspect. Further investigation revealed that the suspect, with premeditation, stabbed the victim in the neck, police said.
The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing and more information will be released when made available.
