SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire)– Hundreds of Sioux City residents stopped by Cook Park for a bite to eat and to learn more about local law enforcement.
The 8th annual Unity In The Community Block Party brought a large crowd of people and more than 35 organizations together. While grabbing a free burger or hot dog, attendees were able to play a variety of lawn games and talk with police from both Sioux City and South Sioux City.
Despite the event ending around 2 p.m., Monique Scarlett, with Unity In The Community, says they already have an idea for next year.
“The wheels are already turning. We got some things planned for the next two years, actually, and we base it on surveys and feedback from the community. So we’re ready,” said Monique Scarlett, the president of Unity in the Community.
Scarlett says she is happy with today’s attendance and hopes to see more people at the block party next year.
