Gloria Troutwine

DAYTON, Iowa—Gloria Troutwine, 81, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away at her home on Friday, June 7, 2024, surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. Pastor Kay. Christie will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, June 10, 2024, from 4-7 p.m., at Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Burial will be at the Pilot Mound Cemetery. Gloria Jean Griep born on September 17, 1942, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert and Blanche (Larson) Griep. She graduated with the Fort Dodge Sr. High class of 1960.

On January 10, 1969, Gloria was united in marriage to James Eldon Troutwine. They lived and farmed in Dayton until moving to Boxholm in 1975. Gloria was employed as a nurse’s aide at Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton for over 15 years. In 2009, Gloria and Jim returned to Dayton.

Gloria was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Boxholm. She loved entertaining in her home and was professional homemaker! She also enjoyed birdwatching from her deck, feeding Baby, the squirrel, daily crossword puzzles, and watching General Hospital. Most of all she loved the time spent with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by two sisters, Sherry Kay in infancy, and Betty Young.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Jim of Dayton, IA; five children, Kelly of Sioux Falls, SD, Michael (LuAnn) of Fort Dodge, IA, Pat of Indiana, Christine (Matt) of Marshfield, WI, and Daniel (Mindy) of Stuart, IA; four grandchildren, Tyler, Rebecca, Tristan, and Ethan; one great granddaughter, Josie: her brother, Robert (Cynthia) Griep of Fort Dodge, IA; two sisters, Marjorie Grant of Manassas, VA, and Joan Griep of Des Moines, IA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
