SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — For the first time since engineering issues surfaced in association with Woodbury County’s new jail project, one of the project’s partners is calling out another.

During the citizen concerns segment of Tuesday’s LEC Authority meeting, Goldberg Group representative Kevin Rost presented authority members a letter sent to Introba Inc. and asked to have it read in full into the official record.

In the letter, Goldberg Group said it will not continue to take blame for what it says is Introba’s “slow and incomplete response to the engineering issues that have arisen.” Additionally, the letter states “We are deeply dismayed that you continue to let our professional reputation suffer due to your firm’s engineering errors.”

Additionally, Goldberg said it has started to subtract what it can from Introba’s fee balance. According to the letter, that number already tops $200,000.

“It was kind of interesting, they said they were billing them or basically taking off their payment for all the time it’s been taking,” Woodbury County supervisor Keith Radig said. “I’ve never seen this in a public project, and it’s interesting to see here today.”

The LEC Authority continues to list a substantial completion date for the project as the end of July.
