Woman charged after man is shot in the face in Iowa on Sunday

DES MOINES, IOWA (WHO) — A Des Moines man survived a gunshot wound to the face on Sunday and the woman accused of pulling the trigger is now charged with Attempted Murder.

According to Des Moines Police, officers were called to an apartment complex in the 3800 block of MLK, Jr. Parkway around 2:00 pm on Sunday on a report of shots fired. When they arrived they found a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the face. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive, according to police.

    A brief investigation lead officers to a suspect in another apartment within the complex. Copan Logan McMains, 46, was arrested without incident – according to police. She is charged with Attempted Murder and Going Armed with Intent.

    Police say McMains and the victim knew each other and the shooting was the result of the escalation of a personal dispute.
