Theresa Palmer, 74, of Afton, died Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Greater Regional Health in Creston. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 3, at the United Methodist Church in Afton. Pastor Jim McIntosh will officiate. Services will be livestreamed at a link under her obituary at powersfh.com. Visitation, with family receiving friends, will be 10-11 a.m., prior to service time.

Theresa Ann (McCulley) Palmer was born Sept. 20, 1949, to Beatrice Jean Plank and Robert Glen McCulley in Iowa City. She attended Louisa-Muscatine schools and continued her education by attending Southwestern Community College and Buena Vista University, majoring in business administration, graduating in 1988.

On July 10, 1965, she was united in marriage to Gerald Ellsworth Palmer. The two lived in Muscatine, Cairo and Windfield, where she worked as an active homemaker and mother. While living in Shannon City, Theresa was employed for Winnebago in Lorimor, as a seamstress. Theresa and Gary moved to Afton in 1996. T

Theresa is survived by her husband, Gary Palmer of Afton; two sons, Tom (Diane) Palmer of Creston and Britt (Kristy) Palmer of Junction City, Kansas; her brother, Jon (Charina) McCulley of Cromwell; sisters, Dixie (Maynard) Palmer of Morning Sun, Jacque Brown McCulley Hellberg (Wes Gilbert) of Shannon City, Jodie (Randy) Lilly of Shannon City and Berta (Mark) Becker of Tingley; four grandchildren: Andrew (Brittany) Palmer, Ashton (Allison) Palmer, Brooke Palmer and Curtis (Kalyne Abel) Palmer; six great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Robert J. McCulley, Robert Brown, Clarence “Butch” McCulley and James “Jim” McCulley.
