SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — Sneaky’s Chicken celebrated its 45th anniversary Sunday evening at the Country Celebrations Event Center. Sioux City residents had the chance to celebrate their favorite fried chicken restaurant that opened back in May of 1979.
“It’s remarkable,” said Sneaky’s Chicken owner Dave Ferris. “I’ll say the community is the only reason we have succeeded. The community has backed us in everything we’ve done.”
Siouxlanders had the chance to bid on live and silent auctions and celebrated their favorite local fried chicken place with free Sneaky’s chicken.
“It just kind of pays a little bit of honor to the staff we’ve had because not many businesses survive 45 years, especially a small, privately owned business,” said Ferris. “So I feel very blessed that the good lord has treated us really well.”
All proceeds from the event will go to Hope Street of Siouxland, a nonprofit that offers a sober home for those experiencing homelessness and addiction.
“We’re really fortunate at Hope Street to have a tremendous board who has been really dedicated to our cause,” said Hope Street of Siouxland executive director Sarah Johnson. “Dave and Sue Ferris have been there from the beginning and we’re excited about doing something different in the community to address the homelessness issue”
The event raised more than $200,000 for Hope Street of Siouxland.
