SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) – The 13th annual Bike SUX ride kicked off at 9 am Saturday morning.
More than 100 cyclists rode from Caribou Coffee to the Missouri riverfront, finishing their ride with lunch from One Eyed Jack’s.
Riders say they were excited to get out and cycle for a good cause and a good time.
“I was way overdue to do it for the first time and it was everything I was hoping it would be,’ said first-time Bike Sux participant Bret Hayworth. “It was a nice organized bike ride, talked to some friends, got a lot of miles in, it was great.”
The proceeds from this year’s Bike Sux will go to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.
“This group of cyclists got together 13 years ago and said let’s get together, do something that promotes cycling, but also do good for our community by giving away the proceeds to different charities and so the big heart of Siouxland is showing strong today,” said June E. Nylen Cancer Center marketing and fund director Christie Finnegan.
June E. Nylen will be using the proceeds to renovate and expand their chemotherapy infusion mixing area.
