Virginia Mae “Ginny” (Ruhnke) Isaacs was born Aug. 8, 1929, daughter of Marvin Ernest Ruhnke and Clara Elenora (Lehrke) Ruhnke, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was educated in Minneapolis schools. After graduating and attending business classes, Ginny worked in the actuarial department of an insurance company in Minneapolis.
On Sept. 18, 1948, Virginia was united in marriage to John Ward Isaacs in Minneapolis. They then moved to Withee, Wisconsin, where they owned and operated a John Deere dealership and later a family printing business, which Ginny would help run. They were married for 44 years and raised five children. Following a fire at the printing business, Ginny spent time working at a restaurant. She then began working as the secretary for St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee, where she was an active member.
In 2016, she sold her home in Withee and moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin. In 2021, she moved to Creston to be closer to her family. Ginny would always find time to be with her children and grandchildren. On top of that, she was an amazing cook and baker, seamstress, always tended a large garden and harvested, canned and froze produce for her family and many others. Although she enjoyed traveling to other U.S. states, Europe and Great Britain, her beloved Withee and the state of Wisconsin were always first in her heart.
Ginny was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston.
Surviving her are her children: Cindy Isaacs Nielsen of Atascadero, California, Sandra (Larry) Shimono of Creston and Betty Isaacs of Atascadero, California; daughter-in-law, Barb Isaacs of Curtiss, Wisconsin; a sister, Marjorie (Harv) Sterriker of Minneapolis, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Clara Ruhnke; husband, John Isaacs; sons, Gary and David Isaacs and great-granddaughter, Lily McNichols.
