Man accused of Sioux City vehicular homicide taken into local custody

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — A man wanted on charges of vehicular homicide that occurred in October 2023, has been extradited into local authorities’ custody on Saturday.  

According to the Woodbury County jail log, Wesley Staten, 31, was booked into the Woodbury County Jail at 12:25 p.m. after being arrested in Alabama earlier in May.  

The Sioux City Police Department first began looking for Staten after he was allegedly involved in a crash that killed two people at the intersection of 6th Street and Wesley Parkway in Sioux City.

Staten was accused of driving west on 6th Street at a high rate of speed and ultimately running a red light as Ford Fusion was heading north on Wesley Parkway. The vehicles collided and went off the road, and Staten allegedly left the scene.  

The Ford was occupied by Terry Alan Frisbie, 51, of Sioux City, and Judith Lee Jordan, 50, of Le Mars, both of whom did not survive the crash.

Authorities reported that Staten was initially cooperating with the police, but the department later announced they were seeking the public’s assistance in locating him.  

The jail’s website states that Staten is currently being held on a $100,000 bond and has been charged with two counts of homicide by vehicle, Leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and operating while under the influence.
