SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — A Sioux City man accused of kidnapping, first-degree sex abuse, and willful injury as a habitual offender has pleaded not guilty to his charges.
According to court documents, Aaron Thomas, 39, pleaded not guilty to his charges on Friday.
In his written plea, Thomas requested a speedy trial. A jury trial is scheduled to take place on July 30 starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Woodbury County Courthouse. A pretrial conference will take place on July 24.
Thomas is accused of kidnapping a woman who had delivered food to his residence on May 11.
Police said that Thomas kept her restrained and beat her so badly he broke the orbital socked in her eye and blew out a globe.
The victim reported the kidnapping to police the morning after he took her captive when she stopped at a gas station.
While enacting a search warrant, police found evidence of sexual abuse and kidnapping, court documents stated.
