A Des Moines man faces staking charges after allegedly trying to contact a De Soto woman in violation of a protective order.
Colton Scott Johnson, 23, of 2401 Indianola Ave., Des Moines, was charged with two counts of stalking and two counts of violation of a no-contact order.
According to court records, a petition for relief from domestic abuse was filed by the victim Feb. 7 in Jasper County District Court, and a no-contact order was ordered against Johnson Feb. 29 in Dallas County District Court.
According to court records, Johnson allegedly violated the no-contact order on March 18 about noon “by attempting to call the victim.”
A second violation of the no-contact order allegedly occurred March 29 about 7 a.m. when Johnson “did attempt to Venmo” money to the victim, according to court records. He made three attempts: for $25, $269 and $9.30.
A warrant for Johnson’s arrest was ordered April 5 in Dallas County District Court and served May 28. Johnson is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $20,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for arraignment June 14 in Dallas County District Court.
