SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — Pride Month starts on Saturday, but Siouxlanders are already celebrating.
On Thursday night, the Sioux City Pride Parade took place downtown. Siouxland Pride Alliance said this is the third year they’ve held the parade. In total, 19 organizations participated in the event.
“It is welcoming to us to be able to be our authentic selves in the community and really to be who we are and be accepted for who we are,” Siouxland Pride Alliance Vice President Karen Mackey said.
After the parade, there was a game night at the Kings & Queens bar.
The Sioux City Pride Festival takes place on Saturday on Historic 4th Street between Nebraska and Jones Streets.
