Waukee man, facing assault charges, allegedly violates NCO

A Waukee man was arrested Wednesday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with an March 23 incident which he allegedly violated a no-contact order with a Waukee woman whom he allegedly assaulted in November 2023.

Kristian Cleon Engel, 38, of 620 Locust St., Waukee, was first arrested Nov. 2, 2023, on charges of domestic abuse assault-impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury, first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and first-degree harassment.

According to court records, the incident began Nov. 1 at about 9:30 p.m. at a residence in the 600 block of Locust Street, where Engel, according to what the victim told officers of the Waukee Police Department, allegedly “assaulted her multiple times,” including the victim’s “being kicked, tackled and punched.”

Engel also allegedly “stated that he was going to kill” the victim, according to court records.

Engel “admitted to hitting” the victim “and grabbing her” and “admitted to putting” the victim “into a ‘headlock’ to try and restrain her,” according to court records.

A no-contact order was ordered Nov. 3 in Dallas County District Court. Engel allegedly violated the no-contact order March 23, and a warrant for his arrest was ordered April 19 in Dallas County District Court and served April 24.

Engel was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing and pretrial conference May 2 in Dallas County District Court.
