FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA (Iowa Media Wire) – In a rematch of the 2021 USHL Western Conference Finals, the No. 1 seed Fargo Force took the first punches over No. 2 seed Sioux City Musketeers, netting a goal in each period as the Muskies fell 3-1 during Game One of the best-of-five series.
Owen Keefe got the scoring started with his first postseason goal of the year, lighting the lamp in the 8th minute of the first period giving Sioux City the 1-0 edge. But the lead lasted only three minutes as the Force’s Mac Swanson found the net from the right circle to make it a 1-1 battle.
Fargo carefully cultivated its attack the final two frames, getting a goal from Brandon Svoboda midway in the second period and an early third period score from Max La Starza.
The Force outshot the Muskies 35-22 to spoil their four-game win streak.
