Rollover leads to murder arrest in Harrison County, DCI says

HARRISON COUNTY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) – Law enforcement arrested a man for murder in Harrison County after authorities investigated a rollover Sunday.

The Harrison County sheriff’s Office responded to a rollover south of Modale around 4:30 p.m., according to a release from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. Deputies arrived to the scene and communicated with the driver, Sebastin O’Brien, 22, of Little Sioux. Officials said that O’Brien became combative and placed into custody after a struggle.

During an investigation into the crash, authorities learned the rolled vehicle didn’t belong to O’Brien and visited the residence of the vehicle’s registered owner. At the residence, the male vehicle owner was found dead. The identity is not being released at this time.

Authorities further investigated and collected of evidence. O’Brien was arrested as a result and charged with first-degree murder. He was booked into the Harrison County Jail. The release said more charges are pending.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a criminal investigation with assistance from the Iowa DCI and Iowa State Patrol.

The deceased vehicle owner was taken to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny for a forensic autopsy.
