Oklahoma Woman Arrested In Henry County For Allegedly Transporting 30 Pounds Of Marijuana

A woman from Oklahoma has been arrested after allegedly being found in possession of nearly 30 pounds of marijuana and driving erratically. According to the report, on April 15th, a red Chevrolet Cruze with an Oklahoma license plate was allegedly traveling erratically on Highway 34 “hitting the gravel on both sides.”

Henry County Deputy Logan Bass then discovered the vehicle on Highway 218 going 74 miles an hour in a 55 mph zone while weaving in and out of their lane. Once the vehicle was stopped the responding deputy could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. When the driver 33-year-old Cynthia Ruiz, of Bixby, Oklahoma was asked about the odor she admitted to having marijuana in the car. Prompting the deputy to search the vehicle. 

While searching the trunk of the vehicle, Bass” located a black suitcase and black garbage bag containing Marijuana,” Bass’s report detailed. “Within the suitcase and black garbage bag, there were separate vacuum-sealed bags containing Marijuana. Each vacuum-sealed bag contained approximately half a kilogram of Marijuana, totaling an approximate thirteen kilograms,” or 30 lbs.

Ruiz has been arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Ruiz also received citations for the improper use of lanes and speeding.

Ruiz has been transported to the Henry County jail where she is being held on a $11,300 cash-only bond. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for this Friday at 9 a.m. in the Henry County Courthouse.
