Deron Shawley told the Union County Board of Supervisors Monday there are efforts to have better containment of cattle as complaints are becoming consistent.
“I hope we can come to a resolution in an active manner because my family is being harassed and I will start seeking legal actions for those shortly,” Shawley said.
Supervisors did not take any action.
Randy Miller, a trustee for Lincoln Township, said Jamie Travis suggested to install electric fence in a certain section of the suspected place where cattle are getting loose, until a more permanent solution can be found. Miller apologized for not taking action earlier.
“This has been going on too long,” he said, as the complaints going back to last fall. “We got to get something resolved. It’s not Deron’s fault, he’s just getting hassled for something he has no control over.”
Miller said he and Shawley will handle the situation not needing county input. Supervisor Rick Friday suggested involving the county attorney. Friday said the county attorney also represents township officials.
