DES MOINES, IOWA (Iowa Media Wire) – The defending 3A champions of the 7-seed Sioux Center Warriors entered the IGHSAU State Basketball Class 4A quarterfinals with the same goal against two-seed Waverly-Shell Rock on Tuesday afternoon, but a Warrior halftime lead would slowly disappear resulting in a 55-51 defeat to the Go-Hawks.
“Before Christmas break I think we were 5-5 and we could have easily thrown the season away, but we came together as a team and battled hard in practice and fought for every game,” Sioux Center senior forward Margo Schuiteman said.
“Just super proud of these girls, they gave it all tonight and they’re going to be tired on the ride back home,” Sioux Center head coach Doug Winterfeld said.
The Warriors end the season at 17-7 overall.
