
The Wapello County sheriff’s office has reported the discovery of a submerged vehicle that has been located in the Des Moines River. The vehicle was discovered on Monday, February 26th by an individual who was boating and fishing near Rock Bluff Park when he observed the vehicle in the middle of the river.
The vehicle was then recovered on February 27th after several attempts by the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office, Ottumwa Fire, and Deran’s Towing and Recovery. Once removed, the body of a deceased male was located inside. The identity of the body is not being released at this time and he has been transported to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner. The death is under investigation by the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office.
